Crisis isn’t a choice.
Response is.

Uncertainty is the refuge of hope.

Henri Frederic Amiel

The “I Love U Guys” Foundation has long been a conduit for research-based best practices that help people in schools and other public spaces respond to crises. Today we feel called upon to put to use this core competency in the new context of COVID-19 as many of our stakeholders deal with shutdowns, delays, meal distribution needs, and more.

Standard Distribution MethodAs we manage emerging practices for students and staff currently out of school, the "I Love U Guys" Foundation has created the Standard Distribution Method for distributing food and learning materials. Ideally these tools can help schools and districts share meals and learning tools while practicing social distancing or quarantine.

Programs

Since 2009, The "I Love U Guys" Foundations has offered programs, at no cost, to schools, districts, departments, agencies and organizations.

The Standard Reunification Method
K-12 Schools

One critical aspect of crisis response is accountable reunification of students with their parents or guardians in the event of a school crisis or emergency. The Standard Reunification Method provides school and district safety teams with proven methods for planning, practicing and achieving a successful reunification.

The Standard Response Protocol
K-12 Schools

The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is based not on individual scenarios but on the response to any given situation. Like the Incident Command System (ICS), SRP demands a specific vocabulary but also allows for great flexibility.

The SRP is based on four actions: Lockout, Lockdown, Evacuate and Shelter.

The Standard Response Protocol
Higher Education

As schools, districts and law enforcement began to put the Standard Response Protocol into practice, it was a natural progression for Higher Education Institutions to adapt the SRP to their circumstance.

SRP Implementation Guidance for Community College, Trade and Technical Schools provides actions more suited to what can be expected of adult students.

The Standard Response Protocol
Business and Institutions

It's not uncommon to find a stapled sheaf of papers, or even a tabbed binder in a desk, that describes a variety of things that might happen and the specific response to each event.

This version of our flagship program, the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) focuses on staff training to address the issue of having occupants who may not be familiar with the SRP.

Peace

It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work.

It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

Behind the Scenes

The "I Love U Guys" Foundation has a reputation for high-content, high-value, high-engagement training. Here's a behind the scenes glance at how we meet that expectation with online delivery.

The Studio

To transition to online training, we set up a broadcast studio and we retooled our content to match the medium.

The Gear

More than talking over a PowerPoint, Foundation online delivery uses high definition cameras, microphones and software to live stream our training events.

The Production

Our online training leverages our deep understanding of the "brain-science" behind multimedia learning. Strict 45 minute sessions with a 15 minute break is our standard.

The "Bear"

We've all probably had a "Zoomie" moment where all of the dogs in all of the rooms do a check in. Meet Baron. You might see him drop into a session.

Keynotes & Debriefs

The "I Love U Guys" Foundation representatives have delivered Keynote presentations internationally. It is not uncommon for an audience to come to their feet at the conclusion of any one of these presentations.

Tragedy Struck

On September 27th, 2006 a gunman entered Platte Canyon High School, held seven girls hostage and ultimately shot and killed Emily Keyes. During the time she was held hostage, Emily sent her parents these text messages: "I love you guys" and "I love u guys. k?"

Emily's kindness, spirit, fierce joy, and the dignity and grace shown by the Keyes family following this tragic event define the core of The "I Love U Guys" Foundation.

What We Do Now
Partner with Love

There is nothing in business today that provides as much economic and social benefit, on as many levels, to as many stakeholders, as a strategic partnership between any combination of the nonprofit, for-profit, education and government sectors when focused on the greater good.

Nothing else comes even close.

Bruce Burtch

When it comes to protecting the joy of youth, everyone has a role. Everyone. We facilitate force multipliers: Companies, organizations and individuals of various sizes and means who want a proactive way to align with or support the work of school safety.

Because we'll only get there together, and with love.

Mission:

To restore and protect the joy of youth through educational programs and positive actions in collaboration with families, schools, communities, organizations and government entities.

The Tools.
The Materials.
The Motivation.

Every Day

Somewhere in North America, kids, teens and adults are being trained in the Standard Response Protocol or the Standard Reunification Method.

Every Way

The Foundation works in every way to evaluate, evolve and advance the programs.

Everywhere

Whether or not an organization adopts our programs, if we ignited a conversation that's a win.

You see, we think that being a catalyst is the real end game. We can change the culture and have conversations.

Emily gave us a voice. And from the classroom she told us what to say. "I love you guys."
